According to The Wine Enthusiast (one of the world’s most authoritive magazines on wine) Barolo is not just the King of wines but the King of World Wines for 2014.
Kerin O’Keefe of the Wine Enthusiast recently wrote the following; “Piedmont (literally meaning foot of the mountain), is a culinary Paradise, famous for it’s rare white truffles. The region is rich in recipes and excellent wineries, it is a destination of dreams for wine lovers. It is also recognized as the bedrock of Italian Wine thanks to names such as Barolo & Barbaresco, and even Barbera, Dolcetto, Gavi, Roero Arneis e Moscato d’Asti”.
Recently Piedmont was not only named one of the TOP 10 Wine Travel Destinations in the world but it’s wines also featured prominently in the Top 100 Cellar Selection of 2014. An impressive total of 8 Barolo’s were in the top 22 wines and incredibly 2 of them occupied 1st & 2nd position with a perfect score of 100/100.
They were Il Barolo Bric del Fiasc 2010 by Paolo Scavini and Il Barolo Brunate 2010 by Giuseppe Rinaldi.
Piedmont has certainly a lot to celebrate with such a magnificent result.
What a great start for Italian wine in 2015.
